Welcome to St Martin's Parish Church, Brampton, Cumbria

St Martin's Church in Brampton is famous as the only church designed by the Pre-Raphaelite architect Philip Webb, and contains an exquisite set of stained glass windows designed by Sir Edward Burne-Jones, and executed in the William Morris studio.

Sir Nikolaus Pevsner described the church as :

'a remarkable building'.'the windows glowing with gem-stone colours'

Brampton - St Martin's Church

The church is normally open between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm; however, if you have difficulty gaining access to the church, the following contacts are available: Evelyn Alexander (016977 3597) or Tourist Office (016977 3433).

Visitors will find information about the church on a series of panels inside. Leaflets and a booklet, which may be purchased at any time during opening hours, provide further information about the building and the remarkable men behind its creation. In addition, a small range of gifts and souvenirs are available whenever the shop is open.

A colourful illustrated book St. Martin's: The Making of a Masterpiece gives a comprehensive history of the church and its beautiful windows.

You will be most welcome at any of our services. Free parking is available adjacent to the church and the town is well served by bus.
